  Tim

Tim Gaskin - Creator and Founder of Benefit Magazine and Benefit Radio, Host and Creator of OUTSpoken TV, a weekly LGBT issues show on Comcast, Artist, Creator of Weekly Phil, an online Green, Good, and Giving Community, and previous host of “Inside City Limits” Tim has covered all bases of media.  We are thrilled to have him back this year hosting the Main Stage.

One constant was his desire to give back. “Because I lived on the streets in my youth, there is nothing I haven’t seen or been a part of,” said Gaskin.  “It’s hard today to imagine that my life was ever that way.”  “I came from an impoverished welfare family,” said Gaskin.  “It was poverty that killed my parents, not the domestic violence or their drug addition.  Those were just coping mechanisms to try and deal with the poverty.  The charitable organizations that serve San Francisco are out to destroy poverty, and I believe it’s my obligation to help them.  While my parents chose one way to face poverty, I chose another, and now I’m in a position to give something back.

In late 2005, Gaskin saw an opportunity to fulfill his long held dream of starting a publication dedicated to the lifestyle of philanthropy and raising the profile of non-profit organizations in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.  Just like so many challenges in his life, Gaskin overcame the nay-sayers and the critics, launching Benefit Magazine, The Lifestyle of Giving in 2006.

Gaskin, who has used painting as a creative outlet, has also donated many of his creations to charity fundraisers and was chosen as one of the artists in the Hearts in San Francisco project that benefited the SF General Hospital Foundation.  Gaskin was selected by Mayor Gavin Newsom as his pick to be a commissioner on the city’s Arts Task Force, a position he still holds.

  Fernando & Greg

Fernando and Greg of The Morning Show on 92.7FM

Hey everyone, its Fernando Ventura and Greg ‘the Gay Sportscaster’ Sherell, or as we’re better known, “Fernando and Greg in the Morning”, America’s First Gay Morning Radio Show on Energy 92.7FM in San Francisco. Each morning we put our spin on everything from sports and entertainment to politics and important community issues.

We value the impact we have on others. It’s not easy being gay in America, and since we started live streaming on our site, we hear from listeners all over the country that they love our show, because we reinforce that being gay is okay.

Our show is not about being gay, but when you listen, you know. We talk about things any person is interested in. We trash talk Brittney and Paris, but we also talk about things like marriage equality when the President uses our lives as a wedge issue.

We're defined by how entertaining we are, not by who we sleep with. We hope the rest of the country will get there too.
